Free verse is different from Blank Verse : it’s unrhymed and has no regular metre or regular line lengths.
Example by T. E. Hulme:
A touch of cold in the Autumn night –
I walked abroad,
And saw the ruddy moon lean over a hedge
Like a red-faced farmer.
I did not stop to speak, but nodded,
And round about were the wistful stars
With white faces like town children.
Free verse can still have a loose rhythm, which isn't rigidly enforced throughout the poem. Poets can frequently return to this rhythm to give a sense of cohesion to the poem or connection between ideas.
