Trisomy X, also known as triple X syndrome, is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of an extra copy of the X chromosome in a female's cells.
Associated with increased likelihood of learning difficulties and some reduction in muscle tone and coordination.
It affects about 1 in 1000 female births. Symptoms vary from mild to severe and can include learning difficulties, delayed development and physical problems such as low muscle tone and abnormal body proportions.
